Aviemore’s BP filling station entered its second day ‘without fuel’ this morning following Thursday night’s incident.

Police Scotland have not yet confirmed details of the attack made on the premises by, reportedly, a solo male.

The extent of damage has not been confirmed either, but a male was apprehended soon after the event at around 11pm on Thursday.

As a result of the incident the company have not been able to sell petrol or diesel.

Motorists have been told that security checks have to be made on the pumps and the switches before any chance to resuming fuel sales and since this is the Easter weekend it’s not known just how soon the relevant contractors will be available to carry out the inspection.

In the height of the Easter tourist trade motorists are having to travel to Newtonmore, Carrbridge or Grantown for their fill.

Meantime the Marks and Spencer food store is trading normally, staff said.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11.25pm on Thursday, 28 March, 2024, officers were called to Grampian Road, Aviemore, following a report of a disturbance and vandalism to a premises.

“A 22 year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

“A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
