Total of 187 Covid-19 cases now confirmed in NHS Highland area

Another 307 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Scotland – as the number in the Highlands rose a further three to 187.

Six people are currently being treated in intensive care in the NHS Highland area.

Some 7409 people have now tested positive across Scotland since the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus.

And a further 58 people have died, taking the total number of deaths to 837.

In the NHS Highland area 62 patients were in hospital with confirmed or suspected Covid-19 at midnight last night.

Elsewhere in the north of Scotland, Shetland, Eileanan Siar and Orkney's confirmed case numbers remained static for the third day in a row, with 45, six and five confirmed infections respectively.

NHS Grampian recorded a further five confirmed cases of coronavirus, taking its total to 394. Some 85 people are receiving treatment in its hospitals for the virus, of whom 15 are in intensive care.
