The continuing lack of answers over the Cairngorm funicular has sparked a fresh blast from Highland MSP Edward Mountain.
The fresh setback led the Scottish Conservatives' local man to demand that the owners should be 'up front' about the problems besetting them – and all those who depended on the mountain resort.
"Limiting visitor numbers could harm the resort going forward," said Mr Mountain.
Today, Highlands and Islands Enterprise said the funicular railway, which has been closed since August and subject to repairs costing £25 million, would be staying inactive.
“It appears that there are yet more delays to the operation of Cairngorms railway," he blasted.
"It is concerning that HIE are now also looking to repair the running gear on carriages.
“It is about time they were open about when the funicular railway will come back into service, and set out what the exact problems are and how long they are expected to go on for.
“Every day of delay is damaging business in the Highlands."
Mr Mountain, who has long criticised the way the whole episode has been managed, again aired his disappointment that so important a visitor attraction was being forced to reduce visitor numbers.
“That only serves to exclude people from across Scotland just now, and could put them off visiting in future.”
