Anger over 'torturing' of Glenmore's Loch Morlich road





Social media was alive this morning with anguish over the way tourists are using the Loch Morlich road.

"What’s happened to Loch Morlich?" asked one as early as 5.30am.

"We thought we would take the dogs for a walk and dip in the loch before the humans arrived on mass," said strath resident Mark Allan.

"Cars parked all along loch side with the cones removed in many places, the main ’no overnight parking’ car park full to overflowing!

"Tents from the very start of the beach to all the way round as far as you can see. Most in the trees just of the beach but loads also on the beach.

"Washing hanging out across trees, bins full to bursting, discarded swim wear and towels.

"Can someone tell me what this new ranger service that CNPA (Cairngorms National Park Authority) set up actually do? And is it Forestry Commission who are in charge of the car parking?

"An area of outstanding natural beauty is being slowly tortured.

"Will it take a fire in those ancient pines destroying them before something is done?"

As others responded to the post with their own dismay, Mr Allan pointed out again: "This is at 5.30 in the morning, so all these people have been there overnight.

"I like to keep my Facebook posts happy and positive, but that really saddened and angered me today."
