The A9 at Dalwhinnie has reopened following the earlier road traffic collision today (Wednesday, March 30).

“Drivers are thanked for their patience whilst the road was closed,” said a Police Scotland spokesperson.

Earlier, it was confirmed that a woman had died as a result of the two-car collision. At least one other person was injured, Police Scotland said.

No further details were available about the two-vehicle crash which took place about 10.50am.

The route was closed in both directions for several hours and diversions put in place. Police had warned drivers they should expect delays in the area.

The collision happened opposite the Dalwhinnie Distillery and near the turn-off to Crubenmore.

It is believed the woman who died was the only occupant of her vehicle.
