A9 closed near Dalwhinnie after tanker incident





Police Scotland have confirmed that the A9 at Crubenmore, near Dalwhinnie, is now passable after a brief closure following an incident involving a tanker carrying liquid nitrogen.

It was at 1.30pm that the driver notice smoke coming from a wheel housing. There was reportedly a problem over bearings in the wheek, but the fire did not spread to the tanker's load.

Emergency services were quickly on the scene but there were no injuries and the situation was soon brought under control.

The A9 reportedly remains closed at Crubenmore, Dalwhinnie after an incident involving a tanker.

The Scottish Fire and rescue Service has reported "relief" that a suspected fire did not reach the load of liquid nitrogen being carried by the vehicle.

It is understood that smoke had emerged from the wheel housing and emergency services were quickly on the scene after 1.30pm.
