A9 closed both ways after three-vehicle accident near Kingussie, police report

A STRETCH of the A9 in the Highlands has been closed following a three-vehicle crash.

Police say they are currently in attendance on the A9 near Kingussie following a report of a crash involving three vehicles.

It is said to have happened around 6.45pm this evening.

Traffic Scotland gives the location as the A9 / A86 Overpass - Raliabeag.

Drivers are warned to expect delays and told the road is closed both directions.

The road is closed and diversions are in place between Newtonmore and Kingussie, police reported.

Diversion details

Northbound

Turn left at A889 junction at Dalwhinnie onto the A889 and follow the road until Drumgask Farm – Turn right onto the A86 and continue on the road until A9 junction at Kingussie.

Distance: 19.6 miles.

Southbound

Turn right onto the A86 and follow the road until Drumgask Farm – Turn left onto the A889 and continue on the road until A9 junction at Dalwhinnie.

Distance: 19.6 miles.
