'Wonderful surprise' of council backing for Kingussie kirk's warm jackets project

The team at Kingussie Parish Church which is working to ensure that every pupil in the town is well wrapped up for winter has received a Christmas present itself – from Highland Council.

"It's wonderful to be able to report that we have just heard we were successful in our application to the Ward Discretionary Fund," said spokesperson Eppy Mackay today.

"The project has received funding to the extent of £2,000.

"This will go such a long way to helping us continue with our aim to provide warm jackets and waterproof shoes for all local school pupils in need of them.

"It was a wonderful surprise to hear confirmation today.

"We are so very grateful to The Highland Council in considering our project worthy of their funding."
