TWELVE new Covid-19 infections have been detected across NHS Highland.

The region's cumulative number of cases increased from 1657 to 1669 when the latest daily update was published at 2pm on Monday.

There were 734 positive tests across Scotland in the past day.

Some 1012 people were receiving treatment in hospital for Covid-19 yesterday, a decrease of three on the previous day.

And there was a small drop in the number of people in intensive care, which fell by one to 46.

No deaths were recorded among people who previously tested positive for Covid-19, but the Scottish Government has warned that registry offices are usually closed over the weekend.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the north of Scotland, there were no new cases reported in either NHS Shetland or NHS Orkney. But two new positive tests were recorded in NHS Eileanan Siar, to take the Western Isles' cumulative total to 88.

There were 63 new confirmed tests across NHS Grampian, taking its overall tally to 5726.

And NHS Tayside reported 49 new infections, for a running total of 6723.

Scotland has now had 106,904 confirmed cases of Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic.
