7 ScotRail train services between Inverness and Glasgow added to cancelled list as Storm Pia strikes

Seven train services between Inverness and Glasgow have been cancelled today as Storm Pia batters Scotland.

The move comes after ScotRail decided yesterday to suspend most journeys on the Far North and Kyle Lines, the Inverness-Aberdeen line between the Highland capital and Inverurie, and the West Highland Line.
The cancelled services include the 5:36, 9:42, 15:44 and 17:26 services from Inverness to Glasgow and the 10:07, 12:07, and 19:07 services from Glasgow to Inverness.
No rail replacement services have been arranged with availability of coaches said to be extremely low.
A ScotRail spokeswoman said: “We have been advised that because of Storm Pia, speed restrictions are in place today, Thursday 21st December.
“For safety reasons, the decision has been taken to suspend services on a number of routes operated by ScotRail.
“We have requested replacement transport but we have been advised that availability is extremely low because of the time of year and companies having various other commitments.
“We would ask customers, where possible, to either plan an alternative route or to delay travel until we're able to operate services again.
“We are strongly advising customers to check their entire journey and make sure all connections can be maintained.”
