NHS Highland region's Covid-19 number rises by 58 after further positive tests take cumulative cases figure to 2863

FIFTY-eight new Covid-19 cases have been detected across the NHS Highland region in the past day.
The area’s cumulative number of confirmed infections rose from 2805 to 2863 when the latest daily figures were published at 2pm.
Across Scotland there were 2309 new positive tests for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours – representing 8.1 per cent of all tests carried out in that period.
Some 1530 people were receiving treatment in hospital for the coronavirus yesterday. This was up 63 from the previous day, and also exceeds the number of patients being treated for Covid-19 in the country's hospitals at the peak of the first wave back in April.
Of the 1530 people in hospital, some 102 were in intensive care. This was up two on yesterday.
And sadly a further 93 people who previously tested positive have died.
Meanwhile, in the north of Scotland, there were new cases in NHS Shetland (two), NHS Orkney (one) and NHS Eileanan Siar (one).
The NHS Grampian area recorded 192 new cases, taking its cumulative total to 9671.
And NHS Tayside detected 172 infections, for a running tally of 9742.
There have now been 146,024 confirmed cases of Covid-19 across Scotland since the pandemic began.
