Kingussie High School justified their tag as one of the favourites by winning the Great Glen Schools’ Shinty Sixes at Blairbeg Park in Drumnadrochit.

The competition for S3 to S6 players is now in its 29th year and saw a total of ten teams take part on Tuesday.

After a hard competitive round robin phase Lochaber High School, Kingussie High School, Charleston Academy and hosts Glen Urquhart High School all won through to the semi final stage.

Two very close and exciting semi finals saw Glen Urquhart edge out Charleston 1 – 0 and the other semi final required golden goal extra time with Kingussie pipping Lochaber to the grand final spot 3 – 2.

In an end to end final Kingussie took their chances and went on to run out 3 – 0 winners against Glen Urquhart.

Charleston Academy went on to claim third spot in the competition.

There was further cheer for Kingussie High School when goal keeper Hayden Taylor-Ramsay picked up the player of the tournament award.

Organisers have thanked Andrew Grant MacKenzie and Roddie MacLennan for refereeing and Glen Urquhart and Strathglass shinty clubs for their help and assistance in making the day possible.
