A9 delays likely for one night as convoy system introduced at Moy Rail Bridge south of Tomatin
Drivers on the A9 will face extra disruption tonight (January 22) amid roadworks three miles south of Tomatin.
A convoy system will be put in place for one night only at Moy Bridge where three weeks of around-the-clock essential maintenance is underway.
BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, had already announced the works involving a 30mph speed restriction with temporary, two-way traffic lights in use 24 hours a day for three weeks from January 20.
Now the road maintenance and management firm has altered the date of the convoy system’s operation to tonight.

The works involve partial refurbishment of the bridge deck, replacing two expansion joints and resurfacing.
The one night of convoy is required to allow operatives to carry out surfacing. It is anticipated that delays of between eight and 12 minutes will be experienced at peak periods.
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s north-west representative, said: “This repair work on the A9 at Moy Rail Bridge will address existing defects on the bridge, providing road users with a smoother and safer journey.
“Our teams will carry out these works quickly, with safety as our top priority. We thank the local community and road users for their patience while we complete the improvements.”
