Safety work to take place on A9 at Findhorn bridge
Road safety improvements worth £460,000 are to be made to a section of the A9 dual carriageway at Findhorn Bridge.
The parapet replacement works one mile south of Tomatin will be undertaken by BEAR Scotland on behalf of Transport Scotland.
They will start next Monday (February 9) and are expected to take four weeks to complete, with two weeks spent on each carriageway.
The works will upgrade the bridge parapets and allow the removal of the temporary barriers currently located in the verges over the bridge.
The works will be carried out between 7am and 7pm Monday to Friday.
To ensure the safety of the workforce and road users the works will be undertaken using nearside lane closures on the A9. A maximum speed restriction of 50mph will be in place.
The traffic management will be in place 24 hours a day seven days a week.
Mr Eddie Ross, Operating Company Representative for the North West, said: "The Findhorn Bridge parapet was identified as sub-standard some time ago and has been protected by a temporary barrier whilst the design was undertaken and funding identified.
"I’m pleased to see this resolved and a new stronger parapet put in place. It will also allow the nearby layby to be reopened as it had to be closed whilst the temporary barrier was in position.
"Whilst the works are unlikely to cause any significant delays, we encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance whenever possible."
