Macdonald Aviemore Resort remains open for business after Covid cluster
The Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort has said it will continue to trade after yesterday's confirmation of a Covid-19 cluster.
It is understood that Highland Council's environmental health officer and NHS officials visited the resort yesterday to check the measures that were in place and were satisfied with the actions taken and the coronavirus procedures put in place.
Iain Miller, managing director of Macdonald Aviemore Resort, said: “Following the positive tests amongst some sub-contractors, we are working closely with local authorities and the health board to ensure all steps have been taken to protect those on site and in the wider community.
"The resort remains operational under the necessary measures and guests and staff have been informed of the developments.”
NHS Highland yesterday confirmed a cluster of seven cases of Covid-19 within the resort.
The outbreak is amongst a group of Christmas entertainers who have been working in the resort over the past week.
Contact tracing is being carried out with all those identified as close contacts being advised to self-isolate.
NHS Highland has written to all guests and staff who have stayed or worked in the resort over the past week to advise them what to do if they develop symptoms.
It is the second cluster of Covid-19 to have occurred in Badenoch and Strathspey following an outbreak at the Millers of Speyside abattoir in Grantown in early September.
There was an initial outbreak of five cases in Grantown with the figure eventually rising to 31 in the town of which 29 were associated with the slaughterhouse.
