Aviemore food volunteers may have to reduce sessions to one morning a week
Takers at Aviemore Foodshare are now so low that evening sessions are likely to be abandoned.
Volunteers are baffled by the low uptake of the food, clothing, books and games at a time when need is growing as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Various opening times have been experimented with at the village's base in St Andrew's Church in an effort to offer the most suitable pick-up times and it has never been easier for people to collect what they need.
There is no demand on form-filling of any kind and the public do not need to be referred in any way.
All people have to do is turn up.
But co-ordinator Beth Hay MBE told the Strathy this week: "Sadly the numbers are not good now.
"Only one person came in on Wednesday evening and again just one person on Friday evening.
"As for Friday morning we only saw five people.
"It's very sad but if things don't improve we have decided we will have to close the evenings sessions and just stick with the Friday.
"Then we'll see how that works."
The volunteers will be at the hall on Friday from 11am to 1pm and for an hour from 6pm and anyone wanting more information about the service can call 01479810 004 or email info@ct4u.co.uk
