Police are advising people in the strath about traffic management during the Olympic torch's procession through the area on Monday (June 11)

For people heading into Aviemore, Carrbridge and Grantown on Monday 11 June they advise:

? People to ideally leave their cars at home where possible.

? Cones which stipulate “No parking” will be situated along the routes (these will be removed after the torch convoy has passed through the area and crowds have dispersed).

? Motorists to avoid the route around the time the torch is passing through the area.

? Parking will be available in the car parks situated in Aviemore, Carrbridge and Grantown.

However, signs will direct people to parking at the Aviemore Highland Resort or for Carrbridge at Landmark.

The public car park in Carrbridge next to the primary school will be closed due to celebrations so motorists are asked to avoid leaving vehicles there prior to the event.

The published times of the torch convoy are approximates depending on traffic and other factors, so people have been urged to get along early to ensure a prime spot.

Entertainment is also anticipated to take place around an hour before the published times.

The torch leaves Inverness Castle at 10.30am and heads down the A9 to Badenoch and Strathspey.

It enters Aviemore along Grampian Road from Dougall Drive at 11.34am and will be at the youth hostel at 11.52am.

The torch will then go on to Carrbridge – from Crannich Park at 12.14pm along the Main Street past Carr Road to the car park at 12.19pm.

After a 15-minute crew stop at the school it will travel from the car park at 12.34pm, reaching Dalmore Road at 12.38pm.

From there it will move to Grantown, getting to Woodlands Terrace at 12.54pm, passing along High Street on to Castle Road at 1pm, then Market Road at 1.04pm, South Street at 1.06pm, and on to Spey Avenue (to the speed limit sign) at 1.11pm, before going on to Tomintoul.
