Highland Council area records one new care home death from a suspected or confirmed case of Covid-19
One new death has been registered in the NHS Highland area from either confirmed or suspected Covid-19 in the past week.
It is the first death since the start of the month after a week when there were no new fatalities from the virus.
That means the current death toll in the health board area now stands at 115.
Each Wednesday the National Records of Scotland (NRS) issues numbers of cases where Covid-19 has been mentioned on a death certificate.
The latest death took place in a care home, taking the total number of Highland deaths in such a setting to 39 while there were 15 deaths at home and 61 in hospital.
The fatality also was located within the Highland Council area, taking the total death toll there to 51 and increasing the number of deaths within care homes in the local authority area to 16.
Deaths to have occurred at home remain at seven and in hospital at 28.
Scotland as a whole has seen a rise in the total number of Covid-19 deaths of 13 in the past week, bringing the total to 4187.
This is four fewer deaths than last week and now makes it the eleventh week in a row that the death rate has fallen.
