Wick’s The Haven manager says Great Glen challenge was well worth it
EIGHT staff and users from Caithness Mental Health Support Group’s The Haven, in Wick, braved midges galore to complete the Great Glen Way.
They were joined by a housing support worker from the Caithness branch of Birchwood Highland and one man and his dog when they set off on the trek from Fort William to Inverness.
The Haven’s manager, Angela Edwards, said the five-day challenge was tougher than she had expected – but well worth it.
She said it was an incredibly worthwhile way to raise around £800.
The money will be used by The Haven to take users out and about on day trips.
Caithness Mental Health Support Group was established in 1990 in response to a lack of social work provision within the county for people with a mental health impairment.
It operates two centres – The Haven and the purpose-built drop-in centre, Stepping Stones, in Thurso.
