Race to health is speeding up at Aviemore, says High Life Highland
Aviemore Community Centre’s head coach is buzzing about the global fitness phenomenon that’s heading the strath’s way.
Josh Brannan, leisure supervisor at the centre, told the Strathy that a whole new fitness regime offered by the centre will be on offer during the summer.
“HYROX is the ultimate training in functional fitness.
“It is accessible, fun, engaging, challenging, and gets athletes of any age or ability in great shape.”
The facility is being fanfared as the ultimate way to get rid of the cobwebs and tone up: “What makes it so accessible is its low entry point and simple functional movements, scalable from beginner to expert level.
“The training combines eight workouts, running within a structured system.
“It’s a new take on the traditional fitness class by turning fitness into a real sport, which can be enjoyed by the every-day gym goer as well as elite athletes.”
As he demonstrated with a workout of his own he confirmed that the community centre’s gym would be offering classes for all, scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 6.30am.
High Life Highland has announced that three of its sites will be introducing this global fitness phenomenon this summer.
Earlier today the Strathy was able to reveal that Aviemore would be playing its part in the latest personal fitness challenge along with Inverness Leisure and Lochaber Leisure Centre.
“While HYROX is associated with large competition events, training here will take the fundamentals and turn them into a comprehensive approach to performance fitness that caters for anyone.
“It resembles traditional circuit training with the objective being to build baseline fitness in participants covering strength, endurance, aerobic capacity, agility and skill work.”
Graeme Ross, Head of Leisure with High Life Highland said: “This is a really exciting introduction for us and we are positive it will prove very popular.
“We hope to be able to introduce regular HYROX simulation events once we have the programme established within these sites. It’s a great new addition to the timetable.”
Booking for HYROX training classes opens on Monday.
