Foran targets extended stay in SPL's top six
THOUGHTS of surviving or the prospect of mid-table mediocrity do not sit well with Richie Foran.
For Caley Thistle’s captain, getting into the Scottish Premier League’s top six come the split is the only objective.
Laurels, however, should not be rested upon if it transpires that little bit of history be achieved next year. The next challenge for Foran will be establishing Caley Thistle among Scottish football’s elite.
After coming so close last season, Foran is leading by example and urging his team-mates to do all they can to make top six football a reality in the Highland Capital.
“I never been so hungry in all my life,” he said. “I now want to go on and win things.
“I want to get into the top six this season and next season, and keep on doing that because I want to help establish Inverness as a top six team.
“I want people to be proud to say they play for Inverness and I want people to be proud to say they come from Inverness.
“That will come from getting Inverness up to nearer the top end of the table, playing good football and winning things.
“For too long Inverness have just been a team happy enough to stay in the league. People say it’s a good season, but not for me it’s not.
“It will be good, however, if we can get into the top six every year and we certainly want to achieve this goal.
“I certainly feel we’re going in the right direction. We’ve got a really hungry manager, hungry players, so the objective is to establish ourselves as a top six team.”
