VISITORS braved the rain to visit Brodie Castle's first-ever Tree Festival.

The day at the castle on Saturday, October 13 included family-themed activities as part of the National Tree Festival, a day to appreciate Scotland's trees.

The national event was organised by Discover Scotland's Gardens.

James Dean, operations manager at the castle, said: "Brodie Castle held it first tree festival to showcase its wealth of wonderful trees and acres of beautiful woodland.

"There was a wide range of contributors from Wooden Tom carvings, tree surgery, botanical illustration, wooden hot tubs, face painting, seed planting and lots more, including specialist walks and talks.

"This could lead onto an annual event as it was a well received way of celebrating the importance of trees and demonstrate how vital they are to the future of the planet."
