Messages appear on Elgin bridge for World Mental Health Day
MESSAGES of hope have appeared on a pedestrian bridge in Elgin in conjunction with World Mental Health Day, which is today.
The messages can be seen on the bridge that crosses the A96 beside Cooper Park.
The signs include sayings such as “Don’t make a permanent decision for your temporary emotion” and “HOPE - hold on, pain ends.”
At the side of the bridge there is also the number for the suicide prevention charity, Samaritans.
A spokesperson for Penumbra, which supports the Mental Health and Wellbeing Centre, said: “World Mental Health Day is a significant event in the calendar as a way of raising awareness for mental health, that everyone has mental health, and that everyone has a right to good mental health.
“With the focus this year on young people and mental health in a changing world, it’s important to remember that one in 10 children suffer from mental health problems.
“Last month we launched our new resources, My Body My Way, to help primary schools tackle negative body image, which a free and available via the I•ROC wellbeing website.
“Penumbra provides a range of services offering direct support to people experiencing a crisis or emotional distress.
“If you, or somebody you know is experience mental health problems, it’s important to reach out and find the right support.”
