EAST Sutherland Wheelers have welcomed their 200th member as Fiona and Darren Holiday join the club.

Fiona said: "We were both overweight and had made a pledge to start attending the gym."

"I was 20 stone!" says Darren. "We began using the bikes in the gym and really loved it.

"We heard about ESW through some of the members in Brora and thought we would give it a try. Since joining we have attended the beginners’ touring rides and also the weekly club time trial. We have found the club welcoming and friendly with everyone willing to lend a hand to help and answer questions.

"We would have no hesitation in recommending membership to anyone else out there in the East Sutherland and Edderton area."

The club have been granted £500 from the Diageo Community Fund which has gone towards purchasing a grass track bike for local women and youth members to participate in cycle events at Highland Games events.
