Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team, Scottish Ambulance Service and UK Coastguard rescue helicopter called out after mountain biker injured near Ryvoan Bothy
Mountain rescuers and the coastguard’s rescue helicopter were called to assist a mountain biker following a crash in the Cairngorms at the weekend.
Rescuers were called out to assist on Saturday after the woman sustained injuries to her back and neck area following a crash north of Ryvoan Bothy.
The Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team members were among those to respond after the call-out at around 2.30pm.
They attended alongside the Scottish Ambulance Service and the rescue helicopter which had been training in the area.
A spokesperson for CMRT said: “The casualty was located north of Ryvoan Bothy.
“As luck would have it HM Coastguard - Highland Rescue 151 were out training in the area and had landed at Glenmore Lodge to refuel. R151 was then able to land on and evacuate the mountain biker.
“We wish the casualty a speedy recovery. Many thanks to all involved.”
CMRT leader Iain Cornfoot said: “It was fortunate that a helicopter was in the area to evacuate the casualty as it avoided transporting her via a bumpy forest road.”
The mountain rescue team involves volunteers and is reliant on public donations to fund its work. To donate, or find out more, visit its website at https://cmrt.org.uk.
