There had been concerns for the welfare of Mr Knutton but he has now been traced.

A missing man from Derbyshire has been found safe and well.

Jonathan Knutton's distinctive silver Citroen DS3 had been found in the area of Badaguish Outdoor Centre by Glenmore.

He had last been seen on Christmas Day at around 8.30pm in Mackworth near Derby.

But Police Scotland has confirmed that Mr Knutton has been found.

A force spokesperson said: "We can confirm that Jonathan Knutton, reported missing from the Derbyshire area, has been traced safe and well.

"Thanks to all who assisted in tracing him."

No other information has been given.

There were hopes Mr Knutton could have been visiting bothies in the Cairngorms and was unaware of on-going efforts to trace him.

Hillwalkers and mountaineers had been asked to keep an eye out for Mr Knutton.

He had been gifted a book on Christmas Day entitled Bothy Tales and it was thought that he may have travelled to the Highlands to trek in remote locations and could have been sleeping in bothies.
