Highlands' secondary schools to be closed because of strike action

Parents are being reminded that both of the strath's high schools will be closed next Wednesday (January 11) as things currently stand.

Industrial action by the Educational Institute of Scotland and the Scottish Secondary Teachers’ Association will hit all secondary schools across the region including Grantown Grammar School and Kingussie High School.

The national dispute is over pay.

Highland Council education chiefs have said the significantly reduced numbers of both management and teaching staff in schools had led to the decision on safety grounds.

There will be no school transport on the day.

Pupils are due to return to school in Badenoch and Strathspey and the wider region this Monday after the Christmas holidays.
