Call for Cairngorms National Park boundary markers to be spruced up
The poor state of the some of the Cairngorms National Park’s boundary markers are creating a poor impression for visitors, a member has claimed.
Eleanor Mackintosh raised the point at Friday’s meeting of the park authority at the headquarters in Grantown.
She said: “Some of the entry points - the granite markers - are in quite a poor state especially the ones that have got overhanging trees and the growth roundabout them.
“It was my understanding that we had service contracts with the councils.
“I was wondering if that is still the case and what we can do to improve it as I do not think they give a very welcoming impression.
CNPA chief executive Grant Moir confirmed the contracts are still in place and said he would take the matter up with the relevant local authorities
