Aviemore records hottest day of the year so far in Scotland
Aviemore was the hottest place in Scotland today as the village notched up the highest temperature recorded in Scotland so far this year.
The mercury reached a sweltering 32.2C at around 4pm.
BBC weather reported that it was the seventh time since 1961 that Scotland has reached 32C.
Aviemore left many of Europe’s holiday hotspots in the shade including Barcelona (27C), Tenerife (29C), Alcudia (31C), Venice (25C) and the Algarve (27C).
It was the hottest day of the year so far across much of the UK with Cardiff’s Bute Park taking top spot with 33.1C.
The hot weather is to continue tomorrow with Aviemore expected to reach 29C tomorrow around 4pm.
Temperatures are due to return to seasonal summer norms on Monday at around 22C and rain and thunderstorms forecast for the afternoon.
