Highland League: Wins for Keith, Lossiemouth and Rothes while Buckie Thistle lose ground on leaders Brechin City after Banks O' Dee draw

Keith were the big winners in the Highland League after a six-goal performance at home to Strathspey Thistle who remain rooted to the bottom.

The Maroons bounced back from defeats to Deveronvale and Lossiemouth by crushing the Grantown side.

Kieran Mooney led the scoring with a hat-trick while rare goals by Ryan Robertson and Stewart Hutcheon (pen) and a Matty Tough goal saw the home side to victory with ease.

On-loan Elgin City youngster Aidan Cruickshank struck his first Highland League goal to get Jags' consolation.

Brechin City made up for points dropped in midweek with a crucial 3-0 success at Brora Rangers, while Buckie Thistle were held to a draw by Banks O' Dee.

Goals by Fraser MacLeod, Marc Scott and Grady McGrath saw Brechin to the three points at Dudgeon Park, atoning for Wednesday's 2-2 draw with Huntly.

Buckie, who had closed the gap to a point in midweek, slipped further behind after twice coming from behind against Banks O' Dee but failing to pick up another victory.

Lachie MacLeod put Dee 1-0 up just before half time, and although Josh Peters tied up the scores, Darryn Kelly quickly nodded the visitors back in front.

Jags centre back Jack Murray notched his sixth of the season to make it 2-2.

Dee had Ally Stark sent off then were reduced to nine men when Magnus Watson went off injured, while Buckie hit the bar through Joe McCabe in stoppage time but couldn't find a winner.

Lossiemouth repeated last seasons win at The Haughs, defeating Turriff United 2-1 to make it back-to-back victories for the Coasters.

After a goalless first half, strikes by Liam Archibald and sub Adam MacLeod put Lossie in command. Turriff had Dylan Stuart sent off but pulled one back through Jack MacKenzie to make their opponents sweat it out for the three points.

Rothes returned to winning ways thanks to Aiden Wilson's goal on the stoke of half time earning a 1-0 success at Deveronvale.

Forres Mechanics' winning run was halted as they went down 2-0 at Formartine United, first half goals from Cole Anderson and Jonny Crawford doing the damage.

Fraserburgh won 5-0 at home to Clach with goals by Ross Aitken (2), Logan Watt, Sean Butcher and Paul Campbell.

Huntly made it ten points from their last four games with a 3-1 victory at home to Nairn County.

Conor Gethins put County ahead but Ross Still and Andy Hunter netted in quick succession before half time, and James Connelly's second goal in a week sealed the three points for the Black and Golds.

Garry Wood and Jay Halliday scored for Inverurie Locos in the first half at Wick and they held on for a 2-1 victory despite Richard Macadie's penalty for the Scorries.
