Strathspey Thistle v Wick Academy postponed as Seafield Park left snowbound
Wednesday night's highly anticipated Highland League encounter between Strathspey Thistle and Wick Academy has been postponed – the first casualty ahead of a midweek calendar which is facing a battle against the recent cold snap.
With Seaboard Park snowbound and forecasts of minus temperatures and fog ahead, officials elected to call the game off early.
The postponement is in stark contrast to the past weekend, when the Grantown side and Banks o' Dee staged the only game of the day in Aberdeen on the more resilient surface of Spain Park – the only artificial park in the league.
With only four games scheduled for Wednesday, December 6, the Jags would have had an opportunity to lift themselves off the bottom of the table with a win over the Caithness club, climbing above nearest rivals Clachnacuddin.
The Jags' next Highland League fixture will be at home to Forres Mechanics this Saturday, December 9.
