Inverness Caley Thistle confirm date and opponents for Strathspey Thistle player/coach Aaron Doran’s testimonial as Ross County due to visit Highland rivals for derby
A date and the opponents for Aaron Doran’s testimonial have been confirmed.
The Irish midfielder moved into his testimonial year when signing a new contract with Inverness Caledonian Thistle in June 2022, but while events were held as part of the celebrations a testimonial match itself never took place.
Doran would then leave the club last summer as a host of senior players exited the Caledonian Stadium amidst ICT’s financial issues, despite having just sustained a serious knee injury that would keep him out of action for the last 12 months.
While that could have put an end to any hopes of getting his testimonial match, Alan Savage revealed in his press conference announcing that Caley Thistle would be exiting administration last week that a match had been scheduled against Ross County to honour Doran.
Now, it has been confirmed that the fixture will take place on Saturday, July 5 in the Highland capital.
Doran will go down as an Inverness legend, making 376 appearances across all competitions and scoring 53 goals.

He was also part of the sides that won the Scottish Cup in 2015 and the Scottish Challenge Cup in 2018, as well as reaching Hampden on several other occasions including the 2023 Scottish Cup final.
The 34-year-old is currently a player/coach at Strathspey Thistle in the Highland League, where he works alongside former ICT goalkeeper and coach Ryan Esson who is Jags manager.
