Sloss brothers make winning start in Newtonmore’s famous colours
New Newtonmore boss Peter Ross was pleased with the performance of the Sloss brothers as all three got off to a winning start.
The Blue and Whites beat Col Glen 3-0 in their first pre-season friendly at The Eilan with ex-Oban Camanachd star Daniel Sloss in defence and younger brother Matthew, on his 17th birthday, in attack.
Ross said: “It was a typical preseason game, and we could have scored more goals.
“Col Glen were robust opponents but we were able to give teenagers Jacob Bain and James Coyle debuts from the bench and both did very well with Jacob at wing centre and James up front, so I’m pleased with that.”
He continued: “It was a good work-out and the Sloss boys turned in good performances, especially considering they both haven’t played since last August.

“We still have other boys to come in like Arron MacBean, Brodie MacBean, Struan Ross, Tristan Ross and Joe Coyle and there’s plenty work to do before the new season begins.
“I’ll be looking for improvement and that starts with Saturday’s match against Kilmallie.”
The Newtonmore seniors welcome their Kilmallie counterparts in the friendly at The Eilan, and they round off their preseason against Skye, also at The Eilan, on Saturday 22 February.
Meantime, the Newtonmore second team have a home meeting with the Lovat seconds this Saturday before playing the Glasgow Mid Argyll second team at the Eilan a week later.
