Newtonmore progress to Camanachd Cup semis
Newtonmore's first team is till on course for the Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup.
In a rearranged quarter-final tie, the Badenoch side held off a determined challenge from North Division One outfit Lochaber to win 1-0.
Lochaber, buoyed by their Balliemore Cup triumph the previous weekend, proved to be tough opponents for the cup holders and belied their area league status.
In a tight match on Saturday, Newtonmore struck the winner after dominating possession for a period following the interval with Fraser MacKintosh forcing the ball home for the only goal of the match in the 59th minute.
More’s senior team will now face Kyles Athletic in the semi-finals at Mossfield Park, Oban — a match which is certain to revive memories of the great Camanachd Cup clashes of the 1970s and 1980s between the two clubs.
