Matthew Sloss put in a great display in Camanachd Cup win at weekend.

Newtonmore took their place in the Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup quarter-final draw after defeating Glenurquhart 4-0 at The Eilan on Saturday.

‘More took the lead on 38 minutes when Iain Robinson turned home a rebound after visiting goalie Stuart MacKintosh had saved from the lively Matthew Sloss.

Matthew Sloss got the second as he turned inside to finish well on his left side from the right of the D with only a minute of the first half remaining.

Declan Brannan’s perfectly weighted cross-field pass perfectly picked out substitute Joe Coyle’s run forward on 73 minutes and he made no mistake.

Iain Robinson notched his second goal a minute later, punishing a defensive slip to run in and finish from a tight angle.

Reflecting on the win, ‘More manager Peter Ross said: “The only thing that matters in these games is making it through to the next round and we did that.

“Matthew Sloss turned in an excellent performance and was very composed throughout.

“Struan Ross, Craig Ritchie and Declan Brannan had control of the centre line, and the defence notched another clean sheet.

“Stuart MacKintosh in their goal made some very good saves.”

This weekend, Newtonmore play Caberfeidh at The Eilan in the Mowi Premiership.

The draw for the quarter-finals of the Camanachd Cup is being made later today.
