Liam Borthwick is already an injury doubt for next season.

Kingussie face an anxious wait to find out whether the versatile Liam Borthwick will be fit to start the new shinty season.

Manager Iain Borthwick, who is also Liam’s father, said: “Liam suffered a broken wrist in the Camanachd Cup semi-final win against Fort William.

“The break healed and Liam was able to come back and play soon after.

“However, he’s been feeling the wrist sore of late though and an x-ray has shown that the initial break is fine, there has been some tendon damage.

“The quickest solution looks to be keyhole surgery which could take place as early as January but we are waiting for a confirmed date.

“Liam maybe came back a bit too soon after the initial break but I can understand that, and maybe it was my fault as I was keen to get him back too as we had so much to play for.

“I did the same myself back when I played.

“Liam will likely miss the pre-season games but with it being a wrist injury, he can continue with his fitness work, and it would be great to have him ready for the new season.

“I still need to speak to Lee Bain to confirm his availability for next year. I’m really hoping he’ll stay involved as he can have a really big part to play once more.”
