Newtonmore manager Peter Ross has given his squad a significant boost ahead of the 2025 shinty season with the double signing of brothers Daniel Sloss and Matthew Sloss from Oban Camanachd.

The pair have not played since a fall-out with their former club last August and defender Daniel and forward Matthew have added to the new manager’s options.

Ross said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have both boys on board.

“Daniel is a game-changer for me. He’s a Scottish international, an Albert Smith medal winner who can play anywhere across the defence.

“He’s probably the best young defender in shinty and alongside Rory Kennedy, arguably the best defender in the game.

“Matthew is only 16 years old and has fantastic potential. He’s still eligible for our under-17s so their coach Glen Mackintosh is delighted too.

“With Joe Coyle and Matthew Sloss, we have two of the most exciting young forwards in the game.

Daniel Sloss added: “Newtonmore have been a breath of fresh air. They’re very welcoming, appreciative and treat you with respect.

“I know several of the boys already and manager Peter Ross too. Peter’s one of the main reasons we decided to move.”

The players joined the squad for last night’s training session. They will train in Newtonmore once a week and do the remainder of their training in Oban.
