HIGHLAND LEAGUE ROUND-UP: Brechin City remain top of the pile

Brechin City remain four points clear of Brora Rangers at the top of the Highland League as they came from behind to defeat Banks O’Dee 3-1 in Aberdeen.

Banks O’Dee were gifted the lead after 12 minutes when Marc Scott scored an own goal when he failed to clear a corner kick from danger and guided the ball into his own net.

But Brechin were only behind for seven minutes as Fraser MacLeod’s strike from long range squirmed under the body of the keeper and into the net to equalise.

Macleod then put Brechin City in front in the 57th minute with a strike into the left corner of the net before Ewan Loudon scored with a volley in the 69th minute to take all three points back to Glebe Park.

Ryan Esson’s Strathspey Thistle pushed in-form Clach all the way before sucuumbing to a 2-0 defeat.

Clachnacuddin moved up to fifth place but were made to work hard by bottom of the table Jags for the points.

Connor Bunce gave Clach the lead five minutes before half time with a screamer from 30-yards out. Lewis Mackenzie then killed the game off in the closing minutes.

Inverurie Locos are in third place as they continued their good start to the campaign with a 4-0 win against Lossiemouth.

Aidan Wilson opened the scored after 15 minutes as he connected with a cross from the left wing from Calum Dingwall.

Nathan Meres doubled their advantage in the 24th minute when his shot crashed off the underside of the crossbar and over the line.

Inverurie were awarded a penalty with 15 minutes remaining when Callum Duncan was fouled in the box and Paul Coutts calmly scored from the spot to make it 3-0.

Callum Duncan got Inverurie’s fourth in injury time as Locos continue their impressive campaign.

Champions Buckie Thistle are up to sixth place as they defeated Rothes 3-0 at Mackessack Park.

All the goals came in a six minute period in the second half with Marcus Goodall opening the scoring in the 56th minute.

Innes Mackay doubled their advantage three minutes later and Darryl McHardy made it 3-0, three minutes later.

Forres Mechanics defeated Huntly 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller at Christie Park.

Huntly were 2-0 ahead after 29 minutes as Angus Grant scored twice, his first in the opening minute before doubling their advantage before the half hour mark.

Kyle Macleod pulled one back for Forres just before half time, but Huntly restored their two-goal advantage five minutes after the break through Finlay Allen.

But Forres stormed back with Mark McLauchlan firing home a long range effort to make it 3-2.

Calum Frame levelled with 13 minutes remaining before he went on to score the winner six minutes from time.

Nairn County are up to 11th with a 2-0 victory over Keith at Station Park.

An own goal from a Matthew Wright cross and along with a Ben Barron strike was enough to give Nairn all three points.

Deveronvale got the better of Turriff United as they won 2-0 at The Haughs on Wednesday night.

Jack Mitchell opened the scoring after 26 minutes and then doubled the Banff’s club advantage in the 54th minute.
