Grantown golfer's stock is on the rise
Grantown golf pro Duncan Stewart has credited some of last season's success to his share scheme which meant he was able to play with less financial worries.
Stewart had his best season yet as a pro as he finished runner-up on the Europro Order of Merit 2012 to win his card for the Challenge Tour having missed out on qualification 12 months earlier to the game's second tier by just £365 of winnings.
He said: "There is no doubt in my mind that one of the reasons I had such success this year was the success of the share scheme I set up.
"It was not only the financial side that helped but the fact people believed in me and supported me which was a huge factor.
"Overall I had around 60 different parties that invested in me including Paul Lawrie.
"Having someone of Paul's stature backing me gave me extra belief that I am good enough to make it to the top level.
"But it was not only myself that had a very successful year, at the end of the season the share holders received a 25% profit on their investments – each £100 share got £125.88 back.
Stewart has revealed that he will once again be selling shares for the coming season to help fund competing on the Challenge Tour but he has made a few alterations to last year's contract.
The Grantown golfer intends to take part in the first Challenge Tour tournament of the season being staged at the Gujarat Kensville Challenge from January 31 to February 3.
