Good entry numbers for Grantown Open Tennis Championship

The annual Grantown-on-Spey Open Tennis Championships get under way this Sunday (July 30).

Play continues daily on the club's six clay courts until finals day on August 6.

A total of 126 entries have been received in 30 categories for junior, senior and handicap events from all over the Highlands and other parts of Scotland.

The number is just slight down on last year's entry by 15 players.

Club coach Alistair McLeod said: "Everyone is very welcome to come along and watch what should be some great tennis."

Competition categories range from eight and under to 45-years plus for men's singles, mixed doubles, women's doubles and men's doubles.

There are open competitions for men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles for the grade four tournament.
