Eilan boss Ross says he could not have had a tougher start to new job
The new shinty season gets underway on Saturday and there are plenty reasons to be optimistic for both Badenoch clubs.
Newtonmore have been handed a tough opener at Caberfeidh, who were top-flight runners-up last season.
Peter Ross said ahead of his first competitive match as first team boss: “Steven Macdonald and Conor Jones both missed the Skye friendly, so I hope to have them both back.
“It’s as difficult an opening fixture as we could have been given.
“They’ll be looking to build on what they achieved last season and in Blair Morrison, Craig Morrison and Kevin Bartlett, they have 3 of the top players in the game.”
Grand slammers Kingussie open their Mowi Premiership campaign against newly promoted Beauly.

Manager Iain Borthwick said: “We’ll be without Savio Genini, Zander Michie and Liam Borthwick but Rory MacKeachan and Ruaridh Anderson return after missing the Oban Camanachd friendly.
“Beauly have caused us problems in the past, so we’ll need to be up for it.”
In Mowi North Division 1, the Newtonmore second team play their Glenurquhart counterparts at the Eilan whilst the Kingussie colts, fresh from winning North 2 last season, are off to Beauly.
Champions Badenoch begin the revamped Women’s Camanachd Association Premier League against Inverness at the Bught Park on Sunday.
Badenoch B and Strathspey will both compete in the new Mowi National League which begins the following weekend. Strathspey also field a B team in the Mowi North League.
