Newtonmore took the points in a 5-2 victory over Lochaber in their Mowi Premiership match at Spean Bridge on Saturday but suffered a major injury blow.

Euan Dingwall suffered a bad collarbone break and will be out for the rest of this season.

The Blue and Whites fielded Steven Macdonald in defence for this 3pm throw up whilst Kyle Clark’s impressive performances for the second team earned him a place on the bench.

Lochaber missed suspended pair Stuart Callison and Max Campbell but Ryan Johnstone was free of his three-match ban.

There was an early exchange of goals as Martin Hall gave ‘More a five-minute lead but Ben Delaney levelled on nine minutes, turning home a rebound from close range with just a hint of offside.

Iain Robinson gave the visitors the lead again a minute later and he scored his second, his ninth goal of the season, to make it 3-1 on 27 minutes.

Martin Hall added a fourth with his second goal on 62 minutes, leaving ‘More in a comfortable position.

Ben Delaney got his second from the penalty spot just four minutes later, with referee Willie MacDonald penalising Steven Macdonald for being grounded by the ball inside the D.

Youngster Joe Coyle rounded off the scoring, making the final score 5-2 on 77 minutes with the goal of the game, turning his marker and smashing the ball into the corner of the goal.

Reflecting on the game, Newtonmore co-manager Norman MacArthur said: “The whole team played really well.

“It’s a tight pitch at Spean and we knew what to expect. Steven (Macdonald) tightened up the defence but everyone did their jobs, and the players looked a bit more relaxed.

“The only down-side was Euan Dingwall’s injury; he has a badly broken collarbone so his season is over unfortunately.
