Sandy Jones, Chief Executive of the Professional Golfers Association, brought the famous silverware to the club on Saturday to help celebrate the landmark.

Club president Len Cruickshank said that the club was delighted to welcome one of the most influential people in world golf and, of course, the trophy.

He said: “Sandy spent the day with members, juniors and friends, and rounded off the day with a highly entertaining question and answer session during which he revealed the background around some of the most memorable incidents in the many Ryder Cups he has presided over for the past three decades.”
