Campbells could make a super father-son pairing for Newtonmore colts
Former Scotland international Norman Campbell has been joined by his son for the first time in a competitive game for Newtonmore seconds.
The Eilan’s colts lost 4-2 in their Mowi North Division 1 match against the Fort William colts at An Aird last Saturday.
The Blues and Whites gave young Brodie Campbell a debut at second team level, and he played the final 15 minutes alongside his father Norman who was at full back.
The only goal of the first half came on 40 minutes when Glen Mackintosh got onto Declan Brannan’s long ball forward and he finished well, flicking the ball by the keeper.
However, Fort William effectively won the game with three goals in a three-minute burst early in the second half.

Their goals came from Dan Nixon, Ben Britton and Jack Kearney before Glen Mackintosh got Newtonmore back into it just before the hour mark.
‘More were in control but were hit with a sucker-punch on 75 minutes when the ball broke out of the box and Greig Kelly slotted it home to make it 4-2.
It was an eventful afternoon for Kelly who was booked for a challenge on James Coyle but was perhaps fortunate to escape similar punishment for two earlier challenges on Tristan Ross.
Newtonmore manager Peter Ross said afterwards: “I’m pleased with a lot of aspects of our performance but that’s two games in a row we’ve lost.
“That hasn’t happened very often so it’s all about how we deal with it and how we react against Skye on Saturday.
Newtonmore meet Skye Camanachd in the Strathdearn Cup final tomorrow at Craigard in Invergarry.
Ross remarked: “Skye had a big win on Saturday, and they are having a good season.
“We’ll continue to field the same young guys for the final.”
Skye wing centre Ian MacPherson misses out after suffering a leg break against Glenurquhart nearly three weeks ago.
Neillie ‘Ach’ MacRae is the referee for this 2.30pm throw up.
