The Highland Business Women Awards are set to return in 2025.

Now in its 20th year, the awards are being sponsored by SJ Highland Construction and celebrate female entrepreneurs who are innovating in their sectors.

A returning category at this year’s ceremony is the Young Businesswoman of the Year Award.

This award is open to both members and non-members of HBW and to anyone aged 30 or under.

Judges will look at career and business experience to date and those applying must outline their future aspirations and how they intend to achieve them.

Last year the award was won by Sandie Gordon, founder and owner of Candles from the Croft.

On winning she said: “Winning is an incredible recognition for a small start up in a rural location.

“It reinforces credibility, opens doors to new opportunities, and showcases the brand amongst some of the best emerging businesses.

“I’m just excited to continue to strive to push my wee business forward and keep promoting the Highlands and home!”

Another category at this year’s awards is the Thriving Through Challenges Award.

This is a new award for 2025 and will be given to the business who has shown resilience throughout the cost of living crisis.

Samia Walsh, director of SJ Highland Construction said: “I am incredibly proud and excited that SJ Highland Construction Ltd is the title sponsor of the prestigious Highland Business Women Awards this year.

“For me, this isn't just a sponsorship; it's a powerful statement of our unwavering commitment to gender equality, not only within the construction industry, which I am a part of, but across all business sectors here in the Highlands.

“Owning and leading a construction company as a woman has given me a unique insight into the landscape of business and the specific hurdles and incredible successes that women encounter, especially in fields historically dominated by men.”

The award ceremony will take place on August 21 at the Kingsmills Hotel.
