Hope for Strathspey's closed roads
Work has gone on today to free up Strathspey's frozen, snow-drifted roads.
The morning report from Highland Council confirmed that while no winter action was necessary on the strath's dry roads and that Nethybridge to Corriechullie and the Dorback roads were passable with care, clearing was still going on further afield.
The B9007 Ferness to Duthil, the Lochindorb road and the A939 Grantown to Bridge of Brown roads were still closed due to drifting snow but works have gone on through to day to deal with the situation.
It remains to be seen what another night of seriously sub-zero temperatures does to the hill routes across the area.
The Strathy will have an update early in the morning.
Maps of the council’s gritting routes by priority and policy are available online at www.highland.gov.uk/gritting
The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time.
A spokesperson explained: "It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.
The UK Met Office currently has a yellow weather warning in place for snow and ice for large parts of Highland, particularly the north-east region. All the latest changes can be tracked at: https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/
