Woman made false sexual assault claims after being spurned
A woman who made false claims that a man indecently assaulted her and forced her to smoke heroin was ordered to carry out 210 hours of community service by a sheriff.
Lisa Wright, (20), of Tannery Court, Inverness admitted making the false accusations to two female police officers on August 10 last year.
Sentence had been deferred until Tuesday for background reports.
The court had previously heard from Wright’s solicitor William Young that she had mental health difficulties and was diagnosed with a personality disorder.
In court on Tuesday Sheriff Margaret Neilson heard Wright had asked to stay at the man’s home and he made up a bed on his couch for her in the living room.
Mr Ian Smith, Depute Fiscal said Wright had made a "sexual advance" to the man which was twice rejected and she stormed out of the house and phone project workers at Barnados making the false allegations.
She repeated the claims to police and said the man had made her smoke heroin.
The man told police Wright had made advances twice towards him but he had declined.
Mr Young said Wright was now seeing a psychiatrist once a week at New Craigs Hospital.
Police officers had concerns about her claims and she confessed to making them up four days later.
Sheriff Neilson said the offence had no doubt led to significant distress and upset to the man and cost to the public purse.
