Whisky giant supports Highlands children's charity

Employees of Scotch whisky producer Chivas Brothers have chosen The ARCHIE Foundation as their Charity of the Year for 2014.

The company - which owns the Glenlivet Distillery - has donated £7,000 to the charity.

The ARCHIE Foundation makes a real difference to the lives of sick children in the North of Scotland and the Islands who need medical care in the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, in children’s wards in Inverness and Elgin, or in their own communities.

David Cunningham, Chief Executive of The ARCHIE Foundation received the cheque at a presentation at the Strathisla distillery in Keith.

He commented: "We were thrilled to receive the phone call telling us that the employees of Chivas Brothers in this area had nominated The ARCHIE Foundation as their charity of the year.

"We have a big task this year to raise a lot of money for the 10th anniversary appeal of Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital and for the Highland Children’s unit at Raigmore Hospital in inverness, as well as creating the newly-designed ward in Elgin – so this support could not have come at a better time. We are extremely grateful and we look forward to employees from Chivas Brothers joining in fundraising events with us during the year."

There are four regional Chivas Brothers charities of the year in total. The others are: Crohn’s and Colitis UK (Paisley, Glasgow and Ayrshire region), Scottish Autism (Dunbartonshire region) and Movember (London and Plymouth region).
