New plans for a cafe and store have come forward for the former Bank of Scotland branch in Aviemore.

Forres businessman Mr Ali is behind the proposal for the vacant bank and wants to add an extension to the building on Grampian Road.

There is not much detail at the moment with the application which has been submitted to Highland Council planners.

But a ground floor plan reveals: “The proposed use is cafe with some retail - clothing and other typically tourist items.”

There will also be office space.

The Bank of Scotland branch in Aviemore closed last summer and was the end of an era for High Street banking in the strath.

It had been the last remaining branch when there had been as many as eight local branches at the turn of the 2000s.
