Snows arrive in Strathspey and Badenoch as predicted





Thick snow arrived in the strath overnight just as the area had been warned and by lunchtime today (February 10) Kingussie High, Primary and Nursery Schools had been closed.

High School parents were told: "Due to snow and poor weather conditions the school will close at 10.45am. Buses are on the way to collect pupils."

Highland Council's website confirmed that several in the region had fallen prey to the conditions:

Achiltibuie Primary: Closed (no water/heating/power)

Achiltibuie Primary Nursery: Closed (no water/heating/power)

Inverie Primary: Closed (bad weather)

Kingussie Primary: Closed (bad weather)

Kingussie Primary Nursery: Closed (bad weather)

Kingussie High School: (closed for bad weather)

Mallaig Primary: Closed (no water/heating/power)

The trains were still running on time and grittters were out in force on the main roads, working their way gradually to the B roads across the area.
